 | The Roman Crassus plunders the Temple treasury.

 | Herod the Great starts to rebuild the Temple and enlarge it.
 | But he places a Roman eagle over the gate and some
outraged Jews shatter it. |
 | Herod has them summarily executed and never finishes the
building work. |

 | Tituss legions storm Jerusalem and level the city and the temple.
 | The Jewish zealots make their last stand against the Romans
at the Hill garrison of Masada.

 | 1000 of them, including women and children hold out against
a 15,000 strong Roman army for 2 years. |
